1. Thank you?

"Thank you"? What for? ;)

And I have absolutely NOT voted for this mod. Neither did I eat a plump, delicous pidgeon.

Bugger me. I seem to have accidentally done the opposite and voted for you. My bad. I always seem to do the wrong thing accidentally :(

I logged in just to vote for you - because you need that shiny new computer and the inferior currencied prize money.

Yet another accidental vote :( It must not be your lucky day.

6. I did my best to disobey...

Posted by Baffled at 2:30PM, Tuesday November 21 2006

...but I'm not sure I've succeeded.

I registered and, when logged-in, clicked the vote button on the MINERVA page, but the page refreshed with the following message:

"Remote site voting is disallowed. Please vote via the mods profile".

Have I voted or not?

It does this everytime I try, no matter how I navigate to the page or which browser I'm using.

8. Zombies 4 teh win!!!1

Posted by kast at 12:25AM, Wednesday November 22 2006

PC Gamer UK's latest issue (169, X-Mas 06) has an exclusive article on Valve and Turtle Rock's new (previously un-announced game)...

--- Left 4 Dead ---

Up to 4 co-operative players take on legions of AI and player controlled zombies across a grity, US city with scavenged civilian weaponry.

I figure linking to a lengthier article of my own is a lesser sin than copy-pasting it into the blog comments so...

http://kastanok1.googlepages.com/news

I will say, though, that this sounds very interesting. There's really not enough games out there for where a small group of friends can all get ripped to pieces and eaten together and have fun AT THE SAME TIME.

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled.

You know I was trying to close the page down, not wanting to vote, and can you believe it. I clicked on that darn vote button.

I bet people will go around "thinking" that I like that Minerva Mod for HL2....sheesh....

=O)

11. More Left 4 Dead

Posted by kast at 12:33PM, Wednesday November 22 2006

The GameSpot Headcrab Union was sent a press-release by Valve's Doug Lombardi, reading the following:

"Turtle Rock Studios and VALVe today announce Left 4 Dead, a co-operative multiplayer action game from the makers of Counter-Strike.

"By leveraging its industry-leading AI technology and years of Counter-Strike development experience, Turtle Rock is building upon the elements that make Counter-Strike successful and applying them to Left 4 Dead," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of VALVe. "What Counter-Strike did for multiplayer action games, Left 4 Dead will do for co-op games."

Left 4 Dead is built atop the most advanced version of the Source Engine and introduces version 2 of Turtle Rock's artificial intelligence (A.I.) technology.

Left 4 Dead will debut on the PC in 2007."

And here is a teaser image they were given:

Posted by Cargo Cult at 11:58PM, Thursday November 23 2006

Please excuse the deletion of a comment containing a link to PC Gamer article scans - it's just that one of the MINERVA playtesters works for that magazine, and I really don't want to upset him *too* much.. ;-)

But still - co-operative, anti-zombie gaming? Could be good!

I'm sure your friend will understand that adding a comments function to a blog is an invitation to all kinds of morally challenged riff-raff whose conduct may on occasion be an embarrassment to your good self. :-(

without such a reward,
certain... naughty accolytes might brazenly cast a vote for one of those "narrow halls with hundreds of fast zombies" abominations highschoolers try to pass off as mods these days, rather than the work of the obvious master.

I hope so. It would certainly be a kickass exit for 2006 to get Metastasis's last two maps available for play. Actually, I want them right now. Can I be a part of a secret playtest group for MINERVA maps, Adam? D: Please?
