Moderator's note - 2008.09.23 v. 2 (updated with new info from Sortie)
The AT mod does a couple of unusual things prior to the installation. Please read the terms before deciding whether you want to:
- send your Steam username to a Content Server, which stores it, but will only be used for statistical reasons and will never be seen by anybody else.
- agree to all the other items in the terms of usage available here (also included in the installer).

Quote from the mod's creator
Quote:
The terms of use is available on http://www.maxsi.dk/distribution/ and inside the Installer. I'm just recieving the Steam Usernames so I can track how many people have installed it. I find this fair; people play my mod and I can see how many people has played it; basically what Steam is doing! All usage of this data will of course be used under the terms specified by the Steam Subscriber Agreement, and at NO point will the usernames be disclosed to the public!

----
Following the tremendous success last time I posted Demo 6 here; I decide to repeat that success! Presenting Demo 7; better than ever; longer than ever; still buggy!

ABOUT ALTERED TRANSMISSION)
City 12, Former Danish city Ã…rhus.

Every city left on Earth are under combine control, whether they know it or
not. In some of these cities resistance have been observed.
Things are different in City 12.

- Non-combine television was reintroduced.
- Half the Civil Protection are corrupt.
- The telephone system and later the Internet were restored.

Thanks to the resistance in City 12, the Combine is slowly losing control.

In Altered Transmission the player arrives at City 12. The resistance is
instantly aware of his presence and brings him to their HQ. Surprisingly, the
resistance has a task for him: Lead an assault into the Non-Citizen Area.

Altered Transmission is estimated 2/3 the length of Half-Life 2: Episode One
and is a detailed true recreation of a real city based on real-life photos and
satellite photos.

ABOUT DEMO 7)
Altered Transmission is developed using another method than just releasing it when it's done, and it's not made using Adam's episodic approach either. I believe in open development, I am releasing every playable map along with all required content to run them, every third month. It's wrong calling them Demos, it's more alike Betas, but I just decied to call them demos.

The purpose of this release to test gameplay, not visuals. Please ignore any clearly unfished sections.

Demo 7 is 7 maps long, including Chapter 1, Chapter 3, Chapter 4 and introducing Chapter 5. Of course, not the full chapters, but large parts.

Altered Transmission - Demo 7 requires Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

NOTE ABOUT THE INSTALLER)
Most systems should be able to run the AT7 installer, in case you can't, ensure you have administrator rights and install the Visual Studio 2005 Redist. This should be a care case since I ship the required binaries with AT7. Doing installation your Steam Username will be detected and transmitted to the Content Server under the terms written in the Maxsi Distribution's Terms of Usage, provided when installing Demo 7, allowing me to see how many people has installed AT7, in accordance with the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

I need your feedback, so give the mod a try and come back with comments! ;-)

Where can I read the Terms of Usage?

On http://www.maxsi.dk/at/?site=at_faq, I read
Quote:
How is Altered Transmission distributed?
Starting with the upcoming Demo 7, a content source control system will stream down the game content to the installer, like Steam and updating the game content if outdated. It's user-friendly; stop asking questions about privacy!

Sortie, I need your answer fast. Really fast.

Did that answer your questions?

Thank you for the clarification. As long as the good folks on the forums and on the blog are aware that beta testing the AT Demo 7 involves agreeing to a few more items than is usual for single-player HL2 mods, I don't see a problem.

Please note that asking about privacy is a legitimate question.

Much better than Demo 6, Sortie. I've had very little issues with the game so far.

I had much more issues with Leon's "Coastline to Atmosphere." Schitzophrenic design, title cards explaining puzzles instead of environmental clues- it just hurt my brain. It's been awhile since I've been so angry with a game.

Thank you for your kind words, and yes, Coastline had too horrible a start for me to complete it. I understand Leon is working on a new project Strider Mountain that hopefully should be a vast improvement.

You say that it is better than Demo 6, in which ways do you think Demo 7 is better and how could it be improved?
