It's pingable from where I am (Warsaw, Poland). :-)

ok, but not connectible yet though?
I may have to swap the +hostip and +ip addresses round, I'm sure IP should be the external IP (213 etc in this case), but all the documentation has it the other way round , so +hostip is the internal IP

now I've noticed that restarting the server increments the port by 1 ech time, so I have to reboot to change config, and just to make it more helpful, the network interface needs manually configuring each boot, hohum, still, it beats actually working.

No joy so far. I'll be back in 2 hours and will help with testing (unless I find myself corralled into Xmassy preparations).

Right, had a better go of configuring the firewall (it's an enterprise grade one, and for some reason doesn't have easy buttons to click for "let everyone connect to my server", spoilsports). I'm pretty sure I've got the port forwarding set up right, but an nmap scan of them still shows it as being filtered, not sure why that is, or if it's working.
in fact the output of nmap -v 213.254.172.10 -p 27000-27030 might be helpful.

darn bloody thing* I'm pretty sure it's the firewall, anyone know much about Juniper Netscreen firewall/routers?
I think I've managed to assign the address 213.254.172.12 to the server, so that might work, but I can't see any connections yet, it's possible that our ISP blocks these ports somewhere else. If this doesn't work I'm giving up for the afternoon, I've got other stuff I'm supposed to be doing... (*heavily censored)
Edit, I'm showing port 27015 as open at 213.254.172.12, and as far as I can tell the server is working fine, so that should mean I've won, but not seen anyone connect yet :(

Ha! Now I see a certain mr Piotr [lclz] connecting! so? how was it? laggy, slow? does it show up as a Minerva group server? I've obviously got the firewall issues sorted, just need to fiddle the server.cfg now :)

sweet! now we just need to work out how to make it change to vs mode when we want. scrub that, who wants what? a vs server, or co-op? And what's the ping like from Poland? (it'll get better tomorrow, everyone will be out of the office by this time tomorrow :))
