I doubt she's using the suit as a hack tool. More likely, she's taken control of the power downlink satellite and uses it to get into the Combine systems.

What would be interesting to figure out is what data she does get from the suit:

- Perseus's position (Is the GPS system still on?)
- Snapshots from the onboard camera (likely)
- Live video feed (less likely, as this requires quite a large bandwidth)
- Health data (basic text values)
- Radiations (Geiger counter and similar device)

Anything else?

Disclaimer: I genuinely don't have any insider knowledge on the suit feature's topic.

I can all but guarantee she gets live video. She never seems to miss anything, even if we just glance at it for a second (doors, video screens, etc.). Plus, the HEV suit seems pretty high-tech; if it can take a shotgun blast to the chest with no permanent damage, I'm pretty sure it can do video streaming. And besides, who knows if the suit is still in its original condition - Minerva or someone else may have altered it to suit their needs.

Is it acctualy an HEV suit? or are you wearing Combine armor? If its Combine armor I would have to say there would definately be video in thier helmets

It is, without question, a stolen HEV suit. Minerva herself says it was originally intended for science, and locworks has identified it as a "Stolen HEV suit" in the guide to the universe. Plus, it has the same voice, the same hud, and the same capacity to resist damage, all of which could be modified if Adam had wanted to convey that we were using a different suit.

Don't forget the reboot sequence after Minerva makes her first strike on the installation in the island. If I remember correctly, in the text of the reboot sequence it states that the suit is an HEV, not combine armor. Feel free to correct me on that one if I am wrong.

You're absolutely right on that, we are indeed using an HEV suit, apparently a version 4, as opposed to the version 5 Gordon Freeman gets.

BMRF is clearly Black Mesa Research Facility. Oddly, however, we seem to go from version 4.3a to version 4.1alpha and back again.

Also note later the "$ofut&re nokpa't no pres-nt no li2e no deaH# no wSrldddddddddd" message, which can also be seen here as Minerva sends a message via a compromised Black Mesa employee computer terminal. What I'd like to know is whether that message is something Minerva is doing (some effect of her presence), or something inherent to Black Mesa OSs.

I never considered that the $ofut&re nokpa't no pres-nt no li2e no deaH# no wSrldddddddddd message could be inherent to the Black Mesa OS.
Even if I'm still quite sure it's related to Miss M.'s presence, I don't think I have evidence to argue with the BMOS hypothesis!
However, let me say I loved those rebooting messages. Don't know why, but I think they added so much "realism"

$ofut&re nokpa't no pres-nt no li2e no deaH# no wSrldddddddddd

Can this mean something?

?????, ??????, no present, no lies, no death, no world?

The statement de-codes (or whatever) to read:

No future, no past, no life, no death, no world

Also check out An Inductee's Guide to the MINERVA Universe which links to a topic about this very phrase.

A new interpretation of that message just hit me - it's a description of Minerva's existance. Incredibly vague and open to interpretation, of course, but then, what else could we expect?

No future - Minerva now has nothing to live for except to fight against the Combine, perhaps in vengeance.

No past - Everything Minerva once was is gone; her identity, her family, her friends, her home, her job, even her humanity has been lost/taken.

No life - Being "all alone in this forsaken machine", she doesn't really have what we would consider a life.

No death - Due to what Minerva is now, she cannot die (post-human, A.I., etc.).

No world - Every place she could conceivably call home is either beyond her reach, under attack by an inter-dimensional alien military, or so alien in and of itself that Minerva cannot bring herself to call it home.

So what do we think of that? Naturally it could be interpreted many ways (humanity has no future, or Black Mesa has no future, or Perseus has no future, and so forth), but I think it's a good start. Sadly, the topic about this message has been euthanized, so I think it's fair game to either make another or continue discussion of it here.

Many thanks - if you don't mind, I think there are a few more topics that deserve a second chance at life - namely this one. This post could also use a topic of its own.

Sorry to double post, but emphasis is required.

Go here.

Scroll down to Half-Life 2, and click.

Scroll down to MINERVA.

Read the description.

Does anyone know if this has any accuracy at all? Who wrote this, and should we believe them? My apologies if this has been discussed before, but I think it needs to be said clearly whether this should be considered proper data.
