Post subject:  How to toss weapons?

Hi,

I'm at the beginning of 'episode 3' of the great MINERVA:Metastasis mod. However, I'm totally stuck ... at one of Breen's mantraps.

According to this walkthrough (http://www.toptenmods.com/minerva/Miner ... rough.html), you "run forward and toss your weapons onto the floor in the mantrap and when you finally enter, the confiscator will not eat the weapons that IT DID NOT TAKE OUT OF YOUR HAND OR OUT OF YOUR INVENTORY. Anything on the floor will remain".

But how do you do this? That is, how do you "toss your weapons" - there is no control to Drop or Toss Weapon in Half-Life 2, so I am quite baffled.

Please illuminate me as to what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,

DANNY

This applies to weapons and objects that you pick up using the E key and carry around. If you already have an SMG in your inventory, any other SMG that you pick up can be carried around and dropped.

Please note that if you follow the suggestion in the walkthrough, you'll be missing out on a glorious no-shooty-bang-bang section of the mod and, potentially, you may get stuck, as you may break things or kill NPCs which are not meant to be killed just yet.

This sounds like a fun exploit I should check out sometimes. :)

Sounds like an wonderful way to utterly ruin the experience if you've played it so little you need a walkthrough. It would however be an interesting experiment...

I agree with Kastanok. In fact, I don't really like the idea of using a walkthrough at all. I guess it's okay to quickly reference if you get stuck, but reading through walkthrough for a mod where so much of the experience is based around the dynamic storyline sort of wrecks it for me. My advice is to just play the mod the way it was meant to be played the first time, then go back and see what happens if you go on a shooting rampage instead. :P

Oh, and welcome to the forums!
