Ah right, I assumed they were just there to show the player where the portal would open, given that they appeared in the rooms you get the portal guns from.

On that note, I think it's noteworthy that the vertical slots don't appear at the target points of the mounted portalguns.

That is an evil, if ingenius, screenshot. The only thing that gives it away is the odd angle of Barney's head.

And in response to ZeroMachine, I found myself trying to do that a few times. Another feature I'd have liked is a button to manually close any active portals.

Actually, I've done that before. You have to be slightly more than halfway through the portal, though, and then dart back through it before the portal-beam reaches the target, so it takes reflexes and/or a big enough room.
