Just played Dear Esther... It's beautiful and haunting at the same time. It's poetic, mysterious, and thought-provoking. The tone is reflective, but also is filled with bitterness. It's definitely a masterpiece which shows that fine art can manifest itself in games.

I think it's been mentioned elsewhere, but I don't think we had a thread for it before. There's a re-make of Dear Esther in the making, with updated graphics and terrain. More details (and frankly, astonishing, screenshots) .
