I had Metastasis 2 for awhile before downloading the latest maps (which were absolutely awesome, great job Adam), but this new version doesn't have the mapping files! I really wanted to see how he put together the portal sequence, but I can't find the map sources for the life of me! Am I overlooking something?

(And before you ask, yes, I'm new here.)

You should know better than to expect a magician to reveal the intricacies of his best tricks! That portal sequence has me intrigued as well, but there is no way I would even bother trying to find out exactly how that was done this soon in the game. Maybe down the road Adam may reveal his hand in regards to that awesome portal effect, but not this soon.

I'd been guessing it was done in a similar manner to the way Valve did the "portal opening" sequence at the end of Half-Life 2.

'Forgotten' - I'll see if I can sort out some tidied-up VMFs at some point!

The portal sequence is basically very heavily inspired by the portal opening at the end of Half-Life 2, just rotated through 90 degrees. It has a custom prop because I was getting weird glitches from the original being too big for the architecture I'd created - all I did was decompile the old prop and scale it down slightly in the .QC file.

The custom material is just the old HL2 one - Ep1 has a different, simplified version for use when the citadel explodes.
