Ok, I've checked the 'stumped' thread, and no-one else got stuck at this point, so I guess I'm missing something really, really, really, really obvious. You have my permission to call me Mr Thicky ;)

I've got to the bit where I have the sentry guns that have been switched against the zombies, and I've gone up the stairs to the corridor with the grenade chest, and the big multi-crab zombie, and the forcefield at the far end.

I can't get through the force field! I've chucked nades through and under it (via the hole in the floor, and I've tried to blow the pipes too), I've looked for power cables, I've back-tracked downstairs to see if there are any switches I've missed. I can't find anything! Have I taken a wrong turn? Is there a big glowing switch I've missed? A door I've not seen?

Any help would be much appreciated, as I've really enjoyed this so far - the production values are right up with Ep1, it's an awesome piece of work!

Just about everyone's got stuck at this point. The solution is... heavily hinted at throughout the thread you mentioned. Look again ;)

Ah, just to be clear - I read the other people's problems as not 'using' the valve on the big pipe blocking the doorway (to cause the blowout), whereas I'm stuck after that, where the pipes run under the floor and are exposed by the small blown-out part of the floor in front of the forcefield. There is a small pressure gauge on one of those pipes, so I've tried shooting it / blowing it up / 'using' it ... all to no avail.

Now, you say there's a hint in the other thread. Presumably it's this:

"Throwing the grenade to open that door though, took FOREVER. I was at the energy field throwing grenades everywhere, and then going downstairs to kill the zombies and reset turrets, dying, reloading: repeat."

Is it the double green doors where the sentry guns are found? I'll try that, when I get home :)

Hi, can you please tell me how you did this?. I am having an absolute nightmare on this part of the game. I have turned the first valve on the pipe to unblock the stairs, I then go upstairs and throw a grenade down to blow the boards off the doors. I then go back downstairs and turn the valve that is in the floor in the area that I can now go. I go back upstairs and the pipes in the floor still aren't blown!!!!. Repeat - I have turned two valves altogther, arfe there any more?. Help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!. i so desperately want to get past this part oft he game!!!!.

I would attach screen shots but I don;t know how!!!.

I've read through all the other posts and keep reading that there is a valve underneath the walkway (which I have turned) and one on teh same level where the forcefield is (where the zombie with all the headcrabs on him was). Could some one please tell me where the valve on the upper level is please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I recall there is a valve right in front of the forcefield in the exposed portion of the floor. It's exposed when you turn the valve on the level below, through the doors you had to blow up to get through. Eh, I think that's right, isn't it? Then you turn this one and it blows up the nearby pipes so you can get below the forcefield.

All I can see on the pipes that are exposed in front of the forcefield is a gauge/meter and a healthpack down below. No valve????...

There must be something wrong here. What you're describing is the state before you turn that valve in the level below. When you turn the valve in that room you had to blow open the doors to get into, it causes an explosion which exposes another small part of the floor right in front of the forcefield with a valve in it. At least this is how I remember it, I went to check but I don't have a save game anywhere near there. Can anyone back me up here? Maybe something went wrong somewhere, maybe try loading a previous saved game and go through that whole section again? If all else fails, just noclip through the bugger.

Ah, I got it now - FINALLY!!!!. God, what a headbuster that turned out to be. There was a new exposed section of pipes that appeared with a valve on, but it was not right in font of the forcefield, I think it was across the walkway a little further back from the forcefield (near the box of grenades). Maybe a zombie was lying over it before, or I just plain kept running over it!!!! - more likely ;-). Thanks everyone for your help.

Have finished the game finally, and I have to say although it was infuriatingly hard in places (due to the puzzles mainly) it was damn good!!!!. have to say I enjoyed it more than Ep1!!!.
